Utilisation

Uses

Uses in perfumery :

Musk T® is very tenacious with a good substantivity. Used for a soft, sensual, silky facet and to give trail.
Used in all types of accords and fragrances.

Year of discovery :

Discovered in 1933.

Natural availability :

Musk T® is not available in its natural state.

Isomerism :

Musk T® does not have any isomer used in perfumery.

Synthesis precursor :

Musk T® is not a precursor to the synthesis of another compound of olfactory interest.

Synthesis route :

Musk T® or Ethylene Brassylate, is produced by a depolymerization of the corresponding polyester: Ethylene Polybrassylate. This polymer is derived from Brassylic acid which is synthesized by a reaction between cyclododecanone and dimethyl carbonate. The intermediate product that is obtained is subjected to a very basic medium to obtain brassylic acid as final product.
