Synthesis route :
Alpha-Terpinene is a terpene obtained by an isomerization of D-Limonene in an acidic medium.
Synthesis precursor :
Alpha-Terpinene can be a precursor to the synthesis of other terpenes, for example by a Diels-Alder reaction.
Isomerism :
Alpha-Terpinene differs from beta-Terpinene, gamma-Terpinene and delta-Terpinene, its isomers. They all have a different smell. alpha-Terpinene is the most medicinal and most reminiscent of Lime EO.
D-Limonene, Pinene, Myrcene and Ocimene are the constitutional isomers of Terpinene.
They all belong to the terpene family, whose common point is that they can be synthesized by a Diels-Alder reaction, starting from Isoprene.
