Uses in perfumery :
Isophytol R has a very sligh floral smell with green herbal undertones. It is mainly used to create white floral composition, as a fixator.

Occurrence of isophytol have been reported in Jasmine absolute (close to 7%!)
Isomerism :
Isophytol has two stereoisomers, the Isophytol R and the isophytol S. The R one is the most used in perfumery.
Synthesis precursor :
Isophytol is an intermediate product in the production of vitamin E and vitamin K1
Synthesis route :
May be obtained from Farnesylacetone. The isophytol is mainly obtained during the manufacturing process of vitamin E and vitamin K1 because its a by-product of the reaction.
